Charges dropped or defeated

The outcome we are working toward in every file.

More than fifty people have been arrested in Uganda for peaceful protest connected to the East African Crude Oil Pipeline. Students, farmers whose land sits on the route, and organisers who helped them write a petition.

Our legal team represents them without charge, alongside other environmental lawyers. The work is unglamorous: bail applications, adjournments, tracking where people are being held, and making sure nobody is quietly forgotten in a district cell.

The wider point is that peaceful protest about land and environment is not a crime, and every case that ends without conviction makes the next arrest harder to justify.
